Use your own domain for your website
Your chequo website is always available at yourname.chequo.com. If you own a
domain — for example elrinconmadrid.com — you can serve your website there
instead. Visitors who open your old chequo.com address are redirected
automatically, so existing links and QR codes keep working.
1. Register a domain
Buy your domain at any registrar (your local provider, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, IONOS, OVH…). If you already own one, skip ahead.
2. Enter it in the Back Office
Go to Website → Custom domain, type your domain (for example
elrinconmadrid.com — with or without www, we handle both), and press
Save.
3. Point your DNS at chequo
In your domain provider's DNS settings, create two records:
| Type | Name / Host | Target / Value |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | www | sites.chequo.com |
| CNAME (or ALIAS/ANAME) | @ (the bare domain) | sites.chequo.com |
Some providers don't allow a CNAME on the bare domain (@). If yours only
offers an A record there, use a DNS provider that supports ALIAS, ANAME, or
CNAME flattening instead — moving just your DNS to Cloudflare (free plan) is
the easiest fix and doesn't change where your domain is registered. If you do,
make sure the two records you create are set to "DNS only" (grey cloud), not
"Proxied" (orange cloud) — Cloudflare's default for new records is Proxied,
which will prevent your domain from connecting.
Delete any old A or CNAME records on @ and www that point somewhere else —
leftover records are the most common reason a domain doesn't connect. (This
won't affect your email — MX records are a different record type and are left
alone.)
4. Wait, then check
DNS changes usually take a few minutes to appear but can take up to 48 hours.
Back in Website → Custom domain, press Check status. When the bare
domain row (without www) shows a check mark, your domain is live and your
chequo.com address starts redirecting to it. The www row is a recommended
extra, so visitors who type www. also arrive — if it's still red, re-check
the www record from step 3, but your site is already working.
Troubleshooting
- "Domain does not point to us yet" — the DNS records above are missing,
have a typo, or haven't propagated yet. Double-check the target is exactly
sites.chequo.comand try again later. - "Certificate not ready yet" — your DNS is correct and the security certificate is still being issued. This finishes automatically; try again in 15 minutes.
- "Points to a different website" — the domain answers, but not with your chequo website. Usually an old record (or website builder) is still active at your provider — remove it.
